This helped me further understand my beat by not only giving me more insight on what I could talk about but Ma'Lia goal also inspired me to also talk on the voices in our community that many people don't hear at times.

Take notes on a conversation you overhear that is related to someone else’s beat and share it with them.

I took notes on a conversation I heard on Tamia Fairbanks beat Education. The conversation I heard is that many professors don't know if they are giving out finals to students or letting their final grade be the final grade. I also heard that many students have been given options to opted out of the final if they do a different assignment. I feel like this would be a good story for Tamia as this has to do with people education and how they could end the semester.

Read a local publication story that’s related to your beat (analyze it on your blog—what did it get right, what did it miss?) Make sure you list the publication.

The local publication story is from Atlanta News First ( https://www.atlantanewsfirst.com/2025/11/30/man-shot-while-walking-southwest-atlanta-neighborhood-police-say/ )  This story is about a man who was shot will walking in southwest Atlanta neighborhood. What the story got right was clear reporting of who, what, and where. It also gave attribution to the official sources, and it also gave notice to the public that the story is still developing. What it missed was lack of context for neighborhood or the campus area, there was no follow up on witnesses and the story does not say whether this is increasing or part of a pattern of incidents that have been happening.
